This page explains the rules, exactly how moderation works on OmeCamera today, and its limits. We would rather tell you what we actually do than promise something we don't.
18+ only
OmeCamera is only for adults aged 18 or over. Everyone must confirm this before chatting. If you see someone who appears to be under 18, end the chat and report them with the reason "Appears to be under 18". That reason carries the most weight of all report reasons.
The rules
No nudity or sexual content. No harassment, bullying, hate speech or threats. No violence, self-harm or illegal content. No spam, advertising or links to other sites. No pre-recorded or fake camera streams. Do not record or screenshot other people without their consent; in many countries it is illegal.
Breaking these rules leads to temporary or permanent bans, as described below.
How reporting and bans work
Every chat has a Report button. When you report someone, the chat ends immediately for both of you and the report is recorded with the reason you chose.
Each reason carries points, from 1 for spam up to 8 for violence and 10 for someone who appears to be under 18. Points add up on the reported person. At 20 points they are banned automatically, first for 1 day, then 3 days, then 30 days; at 30 points the ban is permanent.
Bans apply to the anonymous session and to a device identifier stored in the browser. Repeated reports from the same person against the same user within 12 hours count only once, so a single person cannot quickly get someone banned by reporting them again and again.
Face check in video mode
In video chat, a face-detection model runs locally in your browser. If no face is visible for 20 seconds, your session ends. This discourages pointing the camera at something else. The video frames are analysed on your device only and are never uploaded.
What we cannot do
Nobody watches chats live, and there is no automatic detection of nudity or other content. Moderation relies on your reports, so please use the Report button.
Video is sent directly between browsers, which means your partner's browser can see your IP address. Bans are tied to the browser, so someone determined can get around them by clearing their data or switching devices.
If you are ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. If you see child sexual abuse material, report it to the NCMEC CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org) or a hotline in your country listed at inhope.org.
Tips for chatting safely
Never share your full name, address, school, workplace, phone number or social media accounts. Check what your camera can see behind you, such as letters, windows or anything with your name on it. Do not click links strangers send you. If a conversation makes you uncomfortable, press Next; you do not owe anyone an explanation.
