OmeCamera is a free website for one-on-one video or text conversations with strangers. You can chat with whoever is online, or tell us which language you speak and which one you are learning, and we will try to pair you with a native speaker who wants to practise yours.
Who runs OmeCamera
OmeCamera is built and run by an independent developer. There is no large company or investor behind it: one person writes the code, keeps the servers running and reviews how the rules are working.
Because it is a small, young project, it is honest to say that at quiet times you may wait a while for a match, especially if you choose a specific language to practise.
Why language practice
Speaking with a real person is the hardest part of learning a language, and the part most apps leave out. Random chat is good at one thing: putting you in front of someone new, instantly. OmeCamera points that at a useful goal.
Pick the language you speak and the language you want to practise. When someone who speaks your target language wants to practise yours, you get matched: you help each other, half the conversation in each language. If you would rather just chat, choose "anyone".
How it works
1. Confirm you are 18 or older and accept the rules. There is no account, email or phone number.
2. Choose text chat or video chat, and optionally a language to practise.
3. You are paired with the person who has been waiting longest and fits your choice. Press Next to move on, or Report if someone breaks the rules.
Privacy in plain words
We never ask for your location and do not use GPS. Video and audio go directly between you and your partner's browser and are never recorded by OmeCamera. Because the connection is direct, your partner's browser can technically see your IP address, so treat every chat as public.
Text messages are deleted when the chat ends. We keep basic device and browser information and any reports filed, to enforce bans. The Privacy Policy has the full details.
How OmeCamera is funded
OmeCamera is free to use and is supported by advertising. There are no paid tiers and no features locked behind a payment.
